First phase of major overhaul completed at Iran’s South Pars Refinery

The first phase of major overhaul of the tenth refinery of Iran’s South Pars Gas Complex was successfully completed, said Head of Production at South Pars Gas Complex Mohammad Nemati.

Nemati noted that during the cold period, major repair is planned in four stages: emergency repair, preventive maintenance, initial inspections and basic repair.

He added that 17 companies representing various spheres will be engaged in monitoring the fulfillment of laws, environmental safety rules during the repair of the refinery.

South Pars Gas Field, development of which has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.

It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belong to Iran.

It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
