Italy’s Eni talks on 2019 plans for Karachaganak project

Karachaganak oil and gas field development project in Kazakhstan has witnessed the restart-up of major capital project with Karachaganak debottlenecking project execution, Italian Eni company, joint operator of the field, told Trend.

Karachaganak is a multi-billion barrel gas and liquids field in northwest Kazakhstan. Karachaganak Debottlenecking Project aims to extend the duration of the plateau liquid production.

“Karachaganak Processing Complex (KPC) Gas Debottlenecking (KGCBN) Project is actually in execution, with commissioning expected for end of 2020; 4th Injection Compressor to enter in execution by 2019, and 5th injection trunk line to be commissioned within 2019,” said the company.

Further, Eni said that Karachaganak Expansion Project (KEP) concept has been selected, and is currently in FEED phase, to be completed by 2019.

In general, the Italian company said that 2018 has been another successful year for Eni’s presence in Kazakhstan.

As for production, 2018 has been another record year, as well as for environmental performance, according to the company.

“Kashagan as well reached the record production year accompanied by a very good plant stability performance, and a remarkable improvement in environmental and safety performances,” said the company.

Further, Eni said that the Isatay Operating Company, offshore block, started operating, and preliminary activities to seismic acquisition and well drilling are being completed.

The Isatay block is estimated to have significant potential oil resources and is operated by a joint operating company established by KMG and Eni on a 50/50 basis.

The Badamsha wind farm project of Eni in Kazakhstan (48 MW) has been sanctioned and execution started in December, its commissioning is expected in one year time, said the company.

In Kazakhstan, Eni is joint operator of the Karachaganak field with a 29.25 percent stake, and is an equity partner in various projects in the Northern Caspian Sea, including the giant Kashagan field with a 16.81 percent stake.
