In 2018, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 22.52 billion kilowatt hours, showing an increase of 3.4 percent compared with 2017, Trend reports referring to Azerenergy OJSC Jan. 3.
The volume of electricity exported from Azerbaijan to Russia, Georgia, Iran and Turkey, compared to 2017, increased by 175 million kilowatt hours or 14.2 percent in 2018.
Over 20 billion kilowatt hours of electricity was generated at the power plants of Azerenergy OJSC in 2017.
Azerenergy has over 30 power plants. Their total power generation capacity exceeds 6,000 megawatts, which makes it possible to generate about 24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
