Iranian province rewarding electricity users with low consumption

Around 81.5 megawatts of electricity were saved in the industrial sector of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province during the summer of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), said Akbar Hassan Beglou, managing director of the West Azerbaijan Electricity Power Distribution, in an interview with IRNA, reports Trend.

He said 173 industrial users have saved this amount of electricity.

Hassan Beglou added: "A reward of 24 billion Iranian rials (around $571,000) is intended for users with minimal consumption in order to incentivise them."

The company official said 1,370 users consume 175,000 mW of electricity in the industrial sector of West Azerbaijan.

"The industrial sector takes up 17 percent of all the electricity consumption of the province."

Hassan Beglou said: “In the summer of next year (starts March 21, 2019), a project on cooperation of the industry and industrial parks for electricity saving during the peak consumption times will be implemented."
