By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The 24A platform is set to be installed in Iran's South Pars Gas-Condensate field, said Saeed Mohammad, the managing director of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

According to Mohammad, the 2,300-ton platform was repaired in Bushehr’s Iran Marine Industrial Company (SADRA), and, with the installation of the aforementioned platform in the South Pars Gas-Condensate field, an additional 14.1 million cubic meters (or 500 million cubic feet, as said by the Iranian official) of gas will be extracted.

"Up until now, five platforms have been built by SADRA, then transported to and installed in South Pars," he said.

Mohammad said that five more platforms are going to be installed in the South Pars Gas-Condensate field during the first half of the coming Iranian year (starts March 21, 2019), and that 140 million cubic meters of gas will thus be added to Iran's gas production.

Mohammad added that Iran's gas extraction from this field is around the same level as that of Qatar.

The South Pars / North Dome Gas-Condensate field is a gas field jointly owned by Iran and Qatar.
