Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has injected 3.1 billion cubic meters of gas into the country’s underground gas storage facilities before winter, which is more than in previous years, SOCAR told Trend on Feb. 5.

“Work is underway to expand gas storage facilities,” SOCAR said, adding that the volume was expanded in 2018.

SOCAR extracted 6.53 billion cubic meters of gas at its own expense in 2018 compared to 6.09 billion cubic meters extracted in 2017.

SOCAR exported 23.88 million tons of oil, 1.8 million tons of oil products, 1.42 billion cubic meters of gas in 2018.

SOCAR includes such production unions as Azneft (enterprises producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerikimya (chemical enterprises) and Azerigas (distributor of gas in the country), as well as oil and gas processing plants, service companies and the facilities involved in geophysical and drilling operations.
