Iran's Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade said that the country's income from bitumen exports was about $1 billion a year, despite US sanctions.

The 10th International Exhibition of Bitumen, Asphalt, Insulation and Related Machinery (BAIEX 2018) kicked off on Tuesday in Tehran and will go on for February 15.

Referring to the current International Exhibition, the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade, said that despite sanctions, the company's participation in the exhibition grew by 40 percent, compared with the same exhibition last year.

“The bitumen and asphalt exhibition is focused on the localization of bitumen production and the aim of this exhibition is to increase standards in this area,” said Bahman Hosseinzadeh, Trend reports citing ILNA.

“Some 500,000 tons of cement is exported per year," he said. “The destination of cement exports is neighboring countries, including Turkey, Afghanistan and Iraq. It is also exported to the countries of Qatar, South Korea, India and Malaysia.”
