Mayak project enables SOCAR to increase production

Oil and gas extraction departments of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR have increased production levels as a result of implementation of the Mayak project, Public Relations Head at SOCAR Ibrahim Ahmadov told Trend.

He noted that 11 initiatives were developed in the 28 May oil and gas extraction department of SOCAR’s Azneft Production Union as part of Mayak project in 2018, enabling the company to increase the production level by 3 percent.

“Moreover, the initiatives, worked out by experts of Azneft Production Union and Absheronneft oil and gas extraction department have allowed to increase the production by 1.6 percent by this department in 2018,” added Ahmadov.

He noted that Mayak project is implemented within Azneft Production Union of SOCAR in collaboration with McKinsey&Company.

“The main purpose of the project is to optimize production processes and increase the efficiency of operations. The project is implemented based on the principle of working on initiatives that are developed by working groups from separate structural units (departments at Azneft). In the process of managing the oil and gas production plan, we set a goal to achieve the predetermined level in major indicators of effectiveness by stages,” he said, recalling that the project’s pilot part was implemented by 28 May oil and gas extraction department.
