Russian company began to modernize Uzbek TPP

Uzbekenergo and the Russian company "Power Machines" are working on a phased modernization of power units at the Syrdarya thermal power plant, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Uzbekenergo.

The reconstruction project is supposed to be carried out in 3 stages: in 2018 -2019 –3 and 4 power units, in 2019-2020 - 5 and 6 power units, in 2020-2021 - 9 and 10 power units. The capacity of these stations will grow from 1800 to 1950 MW. The cost of the contract is $177.1 million.

In addition, the upgraded and reconstructed power units will be equipped not only with heat-mechanical and electrical equipment, but also with an automated process control system in power units.

A transition to a high-tech, software complex is envisaged as part of the modernization in order to ensure more efficient operation of automated process control systems in power units and extending their service life.

The total cost of the project is $187.3 million. External Economic Bank of Russia will provide a loan of $132 million. The rest of the project will be funded by the Uzbek side.

The Syrdarya thermal power plant was commissioned in 1981 with an installed capacity of 3200 MW. The annual output of electricity to the integrated energy system of Uzbekistan is 13 billion kWh, or 32 percent of the total electricity produced in Uzbekistan.
