Uzbekistan is interested in purchasing 5 million tons of oil annually from Kazakhstan and Russia, Trend reports via the Kazakh media.
“Uzbekistan is interested in purchasing up to 5 million tons of oil per year, including up to 2 million tons from Kazakhstan and up to 3 million tons from Russia,” said Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev at a plenary session of Parliament on Wednesday in Astana.
Moreover, he added that only Kazakhstan’s delivering the whole amount of 5 million tons is not ruled out.
“Russia is considering supplying up to 1 million tons of oil per year to Uzbekistan,” the minister informed. “Kazakhstan in this context is considered a transit side. Trial transits of oil through Kazakhstan were carried out: 68,000 tons in 2017 and about 36,000 tons in 2018.”
