Uzbekistan allocates $12.1 B to improve chemical industry

Uzbekistan approved the Chemical Industry Development Program for 2019-2030, which provides for the implementation of 31 investment projects with an estimated value of $12.1 billion, Trend reports with reference to the decree of the head of state.

Moreover, another $1.7 billion through foreign direct investment and loans will also be allocated for the implementation of these projects.

These funds will be used to modernize, expand existing and create new energy-efficient facilities for the production of nitrogen, phosphate, potash and complex mineral fertilizers, including on the basis of Navoiazot, Samarkandkimyo, Ferganaazot, Kukon Superphosphate Plant, Ammophos – Maxam plant, Dehkanabad potash plant, as well as capacities in the city of Yangier, Syrdarya region and Tamdinsky district of Navoi region.

It is also planned to create in cooperation with Uzbekneftegaz new productions for the production of polymer products, including polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), synthetic rubber, polystyrene, polyurethane, polyol, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic, polyacrylonitrile, with the participation of leading foreign companies, the use of advanced technologies and modern innovative developments.

Another area of activity is to increase the efficiency of using existing production facilities with the creation on their basis of production clusters for the manufacture of new types of chemical products in demand in economic sectors.

These are melamine, methylamine, formaldehyde, carbamide-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde resins, ethyl acetate, table salt, sodium bicarbonate, chloroacetic acid, sodium nitrate, butyl acetate, trisodium phosphate, nitrocellulose, reagents, catalysts, and chemical additives for metallurgical, petroleum gas industry, as well as polymer fittings, biaxially oriented polypropylene membrane, chemical plant protection products and active ingredients for their production.
