Electricity generation increases in Azerbaijan

Power stations in Azerbaijan generated 8.2 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-April 2019, which is 4.2 percent more compared to January-April 2018, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee.

Of the total volume of electricity produced in January-April 2019, 7.9 billion kilowatt hours accounted for commercial use, which is 4.5 percent more as compared to the January-April 2018.

Of the total power generated for the commercial use in January-April 2019, the share of thermal power plants (TPPs) accounted for 7.4 billion kilowatt-hours, which is 5.5 percent more than in the same period of 2018.

Hydroelectric power plants (HPP) in Azerbaijan produced 434.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity for the reported period, which is 15.9 percent less than in January-April 2018.

According to the State Statistical Committee, during the reported period, wind power generation produced 40.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity (7.5 times growth over a year) and solar power generation produced 7.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity (33.6 percent decrease) .
