Project to provide gas to over 200 Georgian settlements to launch soon

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava arrived in the village of Dzveli Khibula of the Khobi municipality, met with local residents and discussed issues related to the supply of gas to the village,Trend reports with reference to the ministry.

According to Turnava, construction and design work will be carried out in 226 settlements in 2019-2021. Some 210 million lari will be spent on projects. A third of settlements is in the region of Samegrelo. The gas supply plan initiated by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development was reviewed and approved by the Government of Georgia. It covers localities where natural gas has never been available before.

The village of Dzveli Khibula was included in the plan from the very beginning.

The minister noted that as soon as the work begins, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development will regularly visit Dzveli Khibula in order to carry out large-scale work in the village in full coordination with the “Kartu Foundation” (international charitable foundation).

“Working on a three-year plan last year, we promised the society that gas supply would be carried out in all localities where it is technically possible. We are fulfilling this promise, and by 2021 more than 1.3 million people will be provided with natural gas, ” said Turnava.

The minister also presented to the population of Dzveli Khibula projects for financing small and medium-sized businesses.
