The Turkmengeology State Corporation carried out exploration work at the Tajibay hydrocarbon platform, located in the territory of Charjew District of Turkmenistan’s Lebap Region, Trend reports referring to the local Altyn Asyr TV channel.

"Drilling works have been completed for a well with a depth of 2,400 meters, where the inflow of industrially significant natural gas without sulfur has been obtained," the information says.

At present, the Turkmengas State Research and Development Institute is calculating reserves of a new field. The field is located near the well-known Malay gas-bearing area.

At the moment, Turkmenistan develops some 30 gas and gas condensate fields, including "Dowletabat", "Shatlyk" as well as deposits of "Malay", "Kerpichli", "Gazlydepe", "Bagaja", "Elguyy" and others.

Meanwhile, new fields have been discovered in Lebap Region (Agarguyy and Northern Gazlydepe), in Ahal Region (Southern Gutlyyak, Geyazly), and in Mary Region (Garakel).

Furthermore, the increase of commercial reserves has been achieved in the fields of Northern Nayip, Bagaja, Chertak, and Garajaowlak.

The search and exploration work on Turkmenistan's biggest gas field Galkynysh continue. The field's deposits, combined with those of Yashlar and Garakel, according to an independent audit, make up 27.4 trillion cubic meters of gas.

Turkmenistan is the biggest supplier of natural gas in Central Asia.
