Iran exported $14 billion worth of petrochemical products including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) last Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018), Mehdi Sadeghi Niaraki, Head of Department of non-metallic industry at the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, told Shata News Agency, Trend reports.
According to Sadeghi Niaraki, Iran exported chemical products worth $4.5 billion, food products worth $2.8 billion, polymer industry products worth $1.6 billion, cosmetic products worth $190 million and medicines worth $140 million.
He added that about 90 percent of the exports of Iran's non-metallic and non-oil products were sent to 10 countries. "In terms of exports, the bulk of the products was exported to Iraq and China. More than $1 million worth of products were exported to about 80 countries," he said.
Sadeghi Niaraki also said that nearly 46 million tons of non-metallic products worth $23 billion were exported overall, which shows a 1.7-percent increase over the previous year.
Sadeghi Niaraki went on to say that 6 million tons of non-metallic products worth $10 billion were imported last year.
He added that, in comparison with the previous Iranian year, there was a 17.7-percent decrease in imports in terms of weight and a 12.3-percent decrease in terms of value.
