Polyethylene production up at Iran's Mahabad Petrochemical Complex

Polyethylene production of Mahabad Petrochemical Company of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province has reached 56 tons per hour, Mohsen Majidi, Executive Director of the company, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Majidi, production of 37.5 tons of polyethylene per hour was envisaged in one of the projects of the Mahabad Petrochemical Complex.

He added that the production of the complex increased by 20 percent to 320,000 tons last Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018).

"Last year, 80 percent of the complex’s produce was exported, mainly to China," he said.

About 324,000 tons of ethylene are transported to the Mahabad Petrochemical Complex in raw form from Asaluyeh annually.

The annual production of the petrochemical complex reaches 300,000 tons of polyethylene and 30,000 tons of butane.
