Azerbaijan's electricity exports up

In January-May 2019, Azerbaijan exported 1.2 billion kilowatt/hours of electricity, according to customs declarations, Trend reports referring to the country's State Customs Committee (SCC).

For comparison, this figure was 987.9 million kilowatt/hours in January-May 2018.

In January-May 2019, the exported electricity amounted to $51.9 million in terms of value. However, this figure was $53.3 million in the same period of 2018.

In 2018 and 2017 Azerbaijan's electricity exports amounted to 1.4 billion kilowatt/hours and 1.2 billion kilowatt/hours, respectively.

Azerenergy is the main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan, which has dozens of power stations and hundreds of substations on its balance sheet.

The capacity of the generating system of the country is 7172.6 megawatts, which allows generating about 24 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
