By Fakhri Vakilov – Trend:

Through cooperation with Wärtsilä company, Uzbekistan can model its power system and create different scenarios for capacity buildout and dispatch, John Reinlund, Market Development Manager at Wärtsilä Energy Business told Trend in an interview.

Recently Trend reported that Wärtsilä has been cooperating with Uzbekistan in reforming the country's energy sector by modeling the energy systems and optimizing assets.

“Through the studies, Wärtsilä can better understand the challenges in the power system, thereby being able to tailor solutions to customer needs,” h said.

While answering the question about the problems in the energy sector of Uzbekistan the marketing manager noted that a lot of the installed equipment is old, has low efficiency and isn't flexible.

“Losses in transmission and distribution are also high. A lot more integration of renewables is under planning, which will create additional challenges for the current installed base,” Reinlund stated.

“To solve these problems Wärtsilä’s solutions offer much needed flexibility, since the engine power plants are able to start, stop and ramp up/down quickly, in even less than two minutes, while maintaining high efficiency,” he underlined.

Reinlund added that this improves the reliability of the power system and is a prerequisite for Uzbekistan to meet its ambitious targets for renewable energy.

Wärtsilä Energy Business is leading the transition towards a 100 percent renewable energy future. As an energy system integrator, the company understands, design, build and serve optimal power systems for future generations.

Wärtsilä has 70 GW of installed power plant capacity in 177 countries around the world.
