The benefit of the Uzbek side in cooperation with the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is to increase oil production by introducing the most modern technologies in exploration and development of the Mingbulak field, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan told Trend in an interview.
Recently, Trend reported that China National Petroleum Corporation has invested $255.3 million in the development of the Mingbulak field.
“The volume of investments in the amount of $255.3 million is calculated for the entire period of the project until 2035. To date, more than $40 million have been spent,” the ministry said.
Moreover, the ministry said that to date, two projects are being implemented with CNPC at the Mingbulak, Khojasayat, Khodzhadavlat and Sharki Alat fields.
“The field is characterized by a complex geological structure and mining and technical conditions for drilling wells, which at one time did not solve the issue of effective exploration and development of the field, and therefore was stopped in 2010,” said the press-service.
The Minbulak field was discovered in 1987. During the period 1971-2006, 15 wells were drilled.
Despite the difficult mining and geological conditions, the successful construction of exploratory well M-15 Mingbulak was completed to a depth of 5,918 meters, which fulfilled the main task of specifying the geological structure and oil and gas content of the field and gave a large amount of valuable geological information for further exploration planning and development of the field, the press service added.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Energy stressed that the well opened an industrially productive section, where industrial inflows of oil and gas were obtained from four test objects, including the largest inflow of oil from the 7th object.
