Uzbek Agency for development of public-private partnerships (PPP) under the Ministry of Finance discussed the renewal of the Syrdarya Thermal Power Plant (TPP) with representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.

The work is planned to be implemented in two stages. The first one examines the issue of building a gas-steam unit with a capacity of 1.3 GW, while the total capacity of thermal power plants is twice as large, 2.6 GW. The agency offers to start a tender for the project before the end of the year.

The IFC endorsed this possibility, if all the necessary information is provided. The parties also exchanged views on the implementation of projects on renewable energy and the implementation of other initiatives using PPPs.

The Agency for the development of public-private partnerships, together with the Ministry of Energy and the IFC, is implementing a project for the construction of a solar photovoltaic power plant in Navoi region with a capacity of 100 MW.

International Finance Corporation is an international financial institution within the World Bank headquartered in Washington.

It was created in 1956 with the goal of ensuring a steady flow of private investment in developing countries.
