By Leman Zeynalova - Trend:

There are some pending shareholding discussions related to the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), which are expected to be closed in September to start construction works, Teodora Georgieva, executive director of the ICGB project company, told Trend.

She noted that all needed permits and necessary licensees for both Bulgaria and Greece for starting the construction are already in place and ensured by the project company.

“There are some pending shareholding discussions which are close to finalization like signing of EIB and BEH lending agreement and lending agreement between BEH and ICGB , approving of final business plan and some other issues, but we are on the right path to close them in September and activate construction works,” added Georgieva.

IGB is a gas pipeline, which will allow Bulgaria to receive Azerbaijani gas, in particular, the gas produced from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz 2 gas and condensate field. IGB is expected to be connected to TAP via which gas from the Shah Deniz field will be delivered to the European markets.

The initial capacity of IGB will be 3 billion cubic meters of gas.
