By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) has begun construction of a new 33-kilometer Adigeni-Goderdzi gas pipeline, Trend reports citing GOGC.

According to the corporation, pipes have been laid and welding has begun.

The construction of the pipeline will be provided by GPC Contracting LLC of Georgia, the winner of the tender announced by GOGC earlier.

It is expected that the work will be completed by the end of 2019.

The corporation claims that the construction of the Adigeni-Goderdzi high pressure gas pipeline is one of the important projects for the development of the country and the highlands of Adjara.

In the resort area of Goderdzi, there has never been an alternative source of gas supply. As a result of the project, the mountain resorts of Goderdzi and Beshumi will receive natural gas, which will contribute to the development of the resort infrastructure of the region.
