By Fakhri Vakilov –Trend:

Uzbekistan considers receiving electricity from exhaust gases as an alternative source of energy, Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Innovation of Uzbekistan.

According to the innovation development strategy for 2019-2021, the country provides for an increase in the share of electricity production using renewable and alternative sources.

It is planned that by 2025, its generation from these sources will grow by 20 percent. For this, a special working group has been created in the ministry. Until February 1, 2020, its specialists will develop and submit specific proposals for consideration.

As of today, almost 90 percent of the country's electricity is generated at thermal power plants. It consumes large amounts of hydrocarbons and negatively affects the environmental situation.

The preliminary estimates show that the utilization of heat from exhaust gases will help to generate an additional 3.8 billion kW / h without using fuel.

In addition to exhaust gases, other sources for secondary energy production can begin to be used in Uzbekistan. These are the waste heat of the technological processes of cement, steel and glass production and the energy of associated and by-products. European countries and the USA have successful experience in processing these sources.
