The renewable energy power generation has exceeded 3.5 billion kWh in Iran, the Iranian Energy Ministry said.
As a result, consumption of 1 billion cubic meters of fossil fuel decreased, Trend reports referring to the ministry’s website.
Moreover, about 785 million liters of water were also saved.
Currently, 32 alternative energy stations with a capacity of 380 megawatts are being built throughout the country.
Some 115 alternative power plants with a capacity of 761 megawatts have been built.
Some 42,300 people were employed in the alternative energy power plants. The private enterprises made investments worth over 124 trillion rials (about $2.95 billion) in this sector.
Some 45 percent of alternative energy sources account for solar energy, 40 percent – wind energy, 12 percent – hydropower, 2 percent - thermal power and 1 percent – biomass in Iran.
