The total volume of petroleum products sold by the Star refinery of the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR in the domestic market of Turkey stood at 45,486 tons in June 2019, Trend informs referring to a report posted on the website of Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
During the reporting period, the share of Star refinery products in the Turkish market was 1.90 percent, according to EPDK.
The EPDK report shows that in June 2019, the Star refinery exported a total of 59,922 tons of petroleum products, including more than 30,000 tons of diesel fuel and 29,922 tons of jet fuel.
In June, 2019, crude oil imports to Star Refinery amounted to 338,760 tons, the report says.
The opening ceremony of the Star oil refinery took place on October 19, 2018 in Izmir, Turkey.
The total refining capacity of the refinery will be 10 million tons, and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR is the main supplier of crude for the refinery. The refinery will significantly reduce the dependence of Turkey on imports of petrochemical products.
The refinery worth $6.3 billion, built by SOCAR in the Aliaga District of Izmir, will produce 1.6 million tons of naphtha, 1.6 million tons of aviation fuel, 4.8 million tons of low-sulfur diesel, 700,000 tons of petroleum coke, 420,000 tons of mixed xylene and 160,000 tons of sulfur.
