The construction of a 33-kilometer section of the Adigeni-Goderdzi gas pipeline is currently ongoing, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) told Trend.

The completion of construction is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2019.

“The goal of the gas pipeline is to provide gas supply to the population and industrial enterprises of the high mountainous region of Adjara, as well as to the international ski resort,” GOGC said.

In addition, the pipeline will complete the implementation of the gas supply system of Adjara, which will significantly increase the level of gas supply security in the region.

GOGC was established in March 2006 through the merger of the Georgian Oil International Corporation, the Georgian Gas International Corporation and Gruzneft. In 2012, 100 percent of the shares of GOGC were transferred to the “Affiliate Fund”. The main area of activity of GOGC is oil and gas exploration and production, operations for their transportation, design, construction and operation of oil and gas pipelines.
