Uzbekistan signs energy agreements with companies from USA, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia

In the framework of the Central Asian Energy Forum held in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, a number of agreements were signed, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

An agreement was signed on the main conditions for construction projects of a thermal power plant with a capacity of 1250 MW and wind power plants with a capacity of up to 1000 MW in Uzbekistan on the basis of public-private partnership (PPP). The agreement was concluded between the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and ACWA Power company (Saudi Arabia).

Another contract was signed between the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan JSC and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) on the supply of electricity from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan via the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri transmission line, which is currently under construction. The agreement was concluded for 10 years on a take-or-pay basis.

The volume of supplies at the initial stage will be 4.2 billion kW hours, with a subsequent increase to six billion kW hours

Uzbekneftegas JSC and Air Products (USA) signed a Roadmap for interaction on a synthetic liquid fuel production project based on purified methane from the Shurtan Gas Processing Plant (GTL plant), which envisages participation of the American company into the project.

Furthermore, the US Air Products signed a Roadmap for cooperation with Uzkimyosanoat JSC in the project on the construction of a chemical complex in the city of Yangiyer for production of ammonia and urea.
