By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

The seismic survey at Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara fields (ADUA) in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea has started, Norway’s Equinor company told Trend.

“Seismic operations have started. Currently there is an operational stop, but operations are planned to restart soon,” said the company.

The 2D/3D seismic survey on this structure is expected to last 42-45 days (8-9 days for 2D and 34-36 days for 3D).

A seismic vessel, along with security and auxiliary vessels, will be involved during the survey.

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Statoil Azerbaijan (part of the Equinor group) signed a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for the Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara (ADUA) exploration area on May 30, 2018.

The ADUA exploration area is located around 50 kilometers east of Baku, around 14 kilometers to the east of Azerbaijani mainland (Absheron peninsula), and approximately 7 kilometers to the east of Azerbaijan’s Pirallahi and Chilov islands, in water depths varying between 20 and 225 meters.
