For eight months of 2019, Tajikistan purchased gas worth $9.4 million from Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.
Whereas, Tajiktransgaz, a gas distribution company in Tajikistan, did not indicate how much Uzbek gas was imported between January and August.
According to the Ministry of Energy, for the reporting period last year, almost 54 million cubic meters of gas were delivered from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan.
Over two dozen enterprises, including the Tajik Aluminum Company, were able to provide imported fuel.
At the beginning of the year, the first deputy head of Tajiktransgaz, Shavkat Shoimzoda, announced the company’s intention to buy up to 200 million cubic meters of natural gas from Uzbekistan in 2019.
