By the end of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), the number of gas production platforms at the South Pars gas field in southern Iran will reach 39, said Yahya Rashidi, deputy director of Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

Rashidi said that six platforms will be installed this Iranian year, adding that 33 platforms have already been commissioned.

“Last Iranian year (began March 21, 2018), gas production increased by 85 million cubic meters per day with the commissioning of six platforms,” Rashidi noted.

Gas production this Iranian year will reach about 750 million cubic meters per day after installing and commissioning the new platforms, Rashidi said.

The South Pars/North Dome field is the world’s biggest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. It is estimated that the field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which 36 trillion cubic meters of gas can be extracted.
