Azerbaijan reveals volume of oil pumping via BTC in 9 months of 2019

Some 23.6 million tons of oil were transported via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline from January through September 2019, which is 5.1 percent less than in the same period last year, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan's State Statistical Committee.

The BTC accounted for 80.5 percent of all oil transported through the country's main oil pipelines during the said period.

According to the committee, a total of 29.4 million tons of oil were transported through the country's main pipelines, compared to 25.2 million tons transported in the period of January-September 2019.

From January till the end of September 2019, nearly 3.4 million tons of transit (Turkmen) oil was pumped through BTC, which is less than in the same period in 2018 (4.8 million tons).

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers run through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers run through Georgia, and 1,076 kilometers go through Turkey. The construction of the pipeline began in April 2003, and it was first filled with oil on May 18, 2005.
