Koreans to develop feasibility study to modernize Uzbek TPP

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy, Korean Energy Agency (KEA) and Korean SK Engineering & Construction (SK E&C) company signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of a feasibility study for a modernization of the Mubarek Thermal Power Plant (TPP), Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The signing of the memorandum took place as part of Uzbekistan delegation’s participation in the eighth International Renewable Energy Conference in Seoul (IREC 2019).

According to the terms of the memorandum, following the approval of the feasibility study of the project and the audit, the Korean side is ready to carry out development, investment and financing, as well as to consider the possibility of managing the Mubarek TPP on a public-private partnership.

SK E&C is part of SK Group, which is the third largest company (after Samsung and LG Group) in South Korea with an annual turnover of more than $213 billion and a net profit of $23.8 billion by the end of 2018.
