By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:

Turkmenistan plans to supply China with about 40 billion cubic meters of gas in 2019, like in last year, Trend reports referring to a source close to the Turkmen fuel and energy complex.

The Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, with a length of 1,800 kilometers, was commissioned in 2009 and is the biggest cross-border gas pipeline in the world.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of gas reserves, and China is the biggest consumer of energy resources.

The gas pipeline route passes through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The fourth gas pipeline branch is planned to be built through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The volumes of the exported gas will increase after the construction of the branch.

Ultimately, the volumes are planned to be brought up to 65 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
