The newly discovered oil field in Iran is the second biggest oil field in the country’s history, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh said at the press conference in Iran dedicated to the discovery of a new oil field.
“Namavaran oilfield is located between Bostan and Omidiyeh cities of Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province,” Zangeneh added, Trend reports referring to IRINN.
“Initially, the oil volume of the field was 22 billion barrels,” the minister said, adding that 31.3 billion barrels of oil were additionally discovered.
"In total, the oil volume of the field has reached 53.3 billion barrels," Zangeneh said.
The minister said that it is possible to extract 10 percent, i.e. 2.2 billion barrels out of 22 billion barrels of oil of the newly discovered field.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has recently announced the discovery of the new oil field with 53 billion barrels of oil in Iran.
