By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

3D seismic survey, which is being carried out by Norway’s Equinor company at Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara fields (ADUA) in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, is 80 percent complete, Trend reports citing Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR.

SOCAR’s Caspian Geo company has been conducting seismic survey at ADUA since September 2019.

2D seismic survey is underway on a 800-kilometers long line, while 3D seismic survey is being carried out at an area of around 700 square kilometers, said the company.

“About 80 percent of 3D is already complete and it is planned to process and analyze the collected data from next month,” said the company.

Equinor has been operating in Azerbaijan since 1992. The company holds 7.27 percent share in the Production Sharing Agreement for Azeri-Chirag-Gunahsli project, which was extended until 2019, and 8.71 percent share in Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan.

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Statoil Azerbaijan (part of the Equinor group) signed a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for the Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara (ADUA) exploration area on May 30, 2018.

The ADUA exploration area is located around 50 kilometers east of Baku, around 14 kilometers to the east of Azerbaijani mainland (Absheron peninsula), and approximately 7 kilometers to the east of Azerbaijan’s Pirallahi and Chilov islands, in water depths varying between 20 and 225 meters.
