National Iranian Drilling Company drills over 100,000 meters to extract oil and gas

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 27

Some 111,000 meters of oil and gas were drilled by the National Iranian Drilling Company to extract oil and gas during eight months of this Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2019), Deputy Executive Director of the company Mohammad Al-e Khamis said.

“This figure increased by about 10,000 meters during eight months of this Iranian year compared to the same period of last year,” the deputy executive director added, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

Al-e Khamis stressed that 81 wells were drilled and transferred to the relevant companies.

"Among these wells were one discovery well, 25 development wells, six appraisal wells and 49 repair wells," the deputy executive director said.

The deputy executive director said that 60 of those wells were drilled upon the order of Southern Oil Fields Company, nine wells – upon the order of Iranian Offshore Oil Company, nine wells – upon the order of Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, two wells – as part of the project research, and one well – upon the order of National Iranian Oil Company.

Al-e Khamis added that currently, five wells are being drilled in the territory of Iranian Central Oil Fields Company, while seven wells - in the Gachsaran oil field of the Southern Oil Fields Company.
