Fishing boat owners in Iran still wait on their gasoline quotas

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.6

Trend:

National Iranian oil products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) has announced that the details on gasoline quotas for fishing boats will be released as soon as they're approved, Trend reports via SHANA news agency.

"NIOPDC informs the owners of gasoline-powered boats that the issue of determining the quotas for their boats during the fishing season has been presented to the Cabinet of Ministers," said the statement.

The administration of President Hasan Rouhani increased fuel prices on November 15.

One of the goals of gasoline quota policy is to control the domestic consumption, so that in addition to optimizing fuel consumption, export opportunities will also be considered.

The threefold hike in the price of unrationed gasoline may reduce smuggling to neighboring countries, where fuel prices can be up to ten times higher than fuel prices in Iran.
