BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 15

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran will build 5,000 megawatt thermal power plants (TPP) with F-class turbines, Alireza Nasroullahi, the executor of Iran's projects on the construction of thermal power plants, told the Iranian Energy Ministry's information portal, Trend reports.

Iran's Mapna Group and Germany's Siemens have signed an agreement to build 5,000 megawatt thermal power plants with F-class turbines and bring the technology for the production of these turbines to Iran, Nasroullahi said.

Eight locations have been determined for the production of F-class turbines, Nasroullahi said, adding that at present, work has been started in Bandar Abbas, Andimeshk, Sahand and Ahvaz, and the next four locations will be Lorestan, Tehran, Isfahan and Buin Zahra.

After the construction of the plants and the delivery of this technology, Iran will also have F-class turbine technology, Nasroullahi stressed.

According to him, the cost of the contract for the construction of 5,000 megawatt plants is more than 2.2 billion euros.

The first unit of the first F-class turbine power plant (Hangam TPP) will be commissioned in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (from Jan. 21 to Feb. 19, 2020) in Bandar-Abbas county of Iran's Hormozgan province, Nasroullahi said.

The Hangham TPP has two 307-megawatt gas units and a 292-megawatt steam unit, and the second gas unit of the plant will be commissioned by the summer of next year, he added, noting that 500 million euros have been allocated to the Hangham TPP.
