BP interested to participate in renewable energy production in Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia met with Gary Jones, BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey (AGT), who is on a visit to Tbilisi, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
The parties discussed large-scale projects implemented by BP in Georgia, as well as prospects for strategic cooperation under the new leadership of the corporation with an updated mission. The attention of the parties was paid to the favorable investment environment existing in the country, and the long-term successful cooperation of the BP with Georgia.
At a meeting with Gakharia, Jones focused on the work done on the Southern Gas Corridor project. BP regional president noted the important role of Georgia in the successful implementation of this project, which is actively supported by both the US government and the European Union.
"BP has increasing interest in the region and in Georgia in the field of renewable energy production", said Jones.
BP entered Georgia in 1996 and is one of the largest investors in the country.
BP has implemented in Georgia projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, South Caucasus Pipeline and Western Route Export Pipeline transporting oil through Georgia to world markets.
