Gas production has started on the platform 24B of the 24th phase of the South Pars gas field, which is a joint gas field with Iran, the project manager for the development of the 22nd, 23rd and 24th phases of Iran's South Pars gas field Ali Asghar Sadeghi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Pars Oil and Gas Information Portal.
SAdeghi said 14.2 million cubic meters of gas will be produced daily with the launch of the platform.
Sadeghi added that the start of gas production on the 24B platform required a short-term suspension of production on the main platform of Phase 23.
The official said with the launch of this platform, the offshore production area will improve at Phases 22, 23 and 24.
The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field have reached 51 trillion cubic meters of gas (36 trillion extractable).
Presently, 630 million cubic meters of gas may be extracted from Iran's South Pars gas field daily.
After new platforms are commissioned at five phases (13, 14, 22, 23 and 24), gas production volume will increase
The South Pars gas field is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The field is said to have 51 trillion cubic meters of gas and could produce 36 trillion cubic meters of gas. At present, the potential for daily gas production from Iran's South Pars gas field is 630 million cubic meters. With the launch of new platforms in 5 phases (13, 14, 22, 23 and 24), gas production potential will increase to 680 million cubic meters daily.
