Iran's gas exports increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5

Gas exports increased by 26 percent during last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), compared to the year before last (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), said National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Dispatching Director Mehdi Jamshidi Dana, Trend reports citing Tahlilbazar news agency.

According to Jamshidi, about 17.5 billion cubic meters of gas were exported last year.

Jamshidi added that a total of 267 billion cubic meters of gas was produced last year.

The official said that about 112 billion cubic meters of this volume were consumed in housing, trade and catering and the industrial sector. Gas consumption in housing, trade and catering facilities and industry increased by 7 percent compared to the year before last.

"Gas supplied to the industrial sector increased by 7 percent to 42.5 billion cubic meters. Also, 60.6 billion cubic meters of gas was supplied to thermal power plants last year," he said.

Iran produces 800 million cubic meters of gas per day.
