Gas production exceeded 700 million cubic meters per day from the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (this field is called North Dome in Qatar ) in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said Mohammad Meshkinfam, Managing Director of Pars Oil & Gas Company of Iran, Trend reports citing Shana news agency.

According to Meshkinfam, all work on the offshore part of the South Pars gas field was completed, except for 11th Phase last Iranian year. Thus, 6 platforms have been installed in Phases 13th, 14th, 22th, 23th and 24th and 4 of them were commissioned.

Meshkinfam added that the remaining 2 platforms will be installed in 13th Phase (13A and 13C) within 2 weeks. However, due to the current situation (spread of coronavirus), the installation of 2 platforms may take time.

The official said that it was decided to install the first device (jacket) on the 1st platform of the 11th phase last year (March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020). However, according to the situation, the device will be installed this year.

"Pars Oil and Gas Company plans to implement 22 projects related to the South Pars gas field this year (starting from March 20, 2020)," he said.

Meshkinfam said that in addition, the company is currently implementing 15 projects. In total, the number of projects will reach 37.

The South Pars gas field is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field have reached 51 trillion cubic meters of gas (36 trillion extractable).

Around 75 percent of Iran's gas is supplied by this field.
