Gas consumption increases in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Gas consumption in Iran increased by 120 million cubic meters (40 percent) over the past day, compared to the preceding day, said National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Dispatching Director Mehdi Jamshidi Dana, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Dana, this is due to falling temperatures in many parts of the country.

Dana added that about 411 million cubic meters of gas was consumed over the past day in Iran, while about 290 million cubic meters of gas was consumed the preceding day.

Gas consumption in winter exceeded 700 million cubic meters per day in Iran. This has resulted in suspension of gas supply to thermal power plants and some industrial enterprises. During this period, thermal power plants and some industrial enterprises used liquid fuel.

Iran produced 267 billion cubic meters of gas last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020). Gas consumption in Iran's housing, trade and catering facilities and industry amounted to 112 billion cubic meters. Gas consumption increased by 7 percent compared to the preceding year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019).
