Azerbaijan’s Azerenergy OJSC generated 23.4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in 2019, Trend reports on April 14 referring to a report on the activity of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers in 2019.
As stated in the report, 22.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity was generated in thermal power plants, and 1.3 billion kilowatt-hours in hydropower plants.
“Shimal-2 power station, which was commissioned in Azerbaijan with the participation of the Azerbaijani president in 2019, is the only power station in the South Caucasus with a capacity of 409 megawatts and fuel consumption of 214-216 grams depending on the load mode,” the report said.
“Seventeen substations, including two 220-kilovolt substations and 15 110-kilovolt substations were reconstructed in 2019 as part of developing a high-voltage network of the energy system of Azerenergy company,” the report said. "The control systems, automation system and equipment were renewed.”
