Azerbaijan's oil transportation volume via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17

Some 7.6 million tons of oil were transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline from January through March 2020, which is 6.4 percent less compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, the BTC oil pipeline accounted for 80.2 percent of all oil transported through the country's main oil pipelines.

In total, 9.5 million tons of oil were transported through the country's main pipelines compared to 38 million tons in 2019.

Almost 1.1 million tons of Turkmen transit oil were transported through BTC from January through March 2020, which is less compared to the same period of 2019.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers run through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers run through Georgia, and 1,076 kilometers go through Turkey. The construction of the pipeline began in April 2003, and it was first filled with oil on May 18, 2005.
