New solar plant put in operation in Kazakhstan's Turkestan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.27

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

A 4.8 MW Zhetysay solar power plant was put into operation in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy.

The power plant, owned by KaDi Company LLP, was launched in Zhetysaysky district. The project was implemented at the company's own expense.

Bi-functional double-sided panels a unit power of which was 375 W, were used during the power plant construction, using a single-axis fixed-angle morning-evening tracker system. Thus, the use of a tracker system will increase power plant output by up to 30 percent.

Construction was implemented on the territory of the former landfill area of 10.7 hectares. The launch of the construction was in August 2019. Some 42 people were involved in construction and installation work, whereas now the station is serviced by staff of 14 people.

“The project is in line with Kazakhstan’s 'green economy' policy and contributes to the industrial and innovative development of the country. The reduction of CO2 emissions will be about 6,048 tons a year. During the project’s implementation new jobs were created. The payback period of this project is seven years,” the ministry said.

The planned annual capacity is 7.2 million kW. Electricity will be generated by 12,798 solar panels distributed on 158 movable ‘tables’ across 81 solar modules.

The power plant also has four inverters the unit capacity of which is 1,250 kW each combined into a block-modular installation to convert direct current to alternating current.
