About 1,600 solar panels will be provided to nomads at the North Khorasan province in northeastern Iran, said Managing Director of North Khorasan Electric Distribution Company Alireza Sabouri, Trend reports citing IRNA.
According to Sabouri, the power of each of these mobile panels is 100 watts.
Sabouri added that about 50 percent of the cost of the panels will be covered by the Iranian Ministry of Energy. This amount is about 25 million rials (about $595,000).
The official said that the rest will be paid by the nomadic families themselves.
As many as 400 solar panels were handed over to nomads in Iran's North Khorasan province in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).
More than 30,000 nomads live in Iran's North Khorasan province.
In total, North Khorasan province has a population of 863,000. About 44 percent of them live in rural areas.
