Trend:

Iran has increased the capacity of its reservoirs to store surplus gasoline, said Ali Ahmadipour, a deputy in the Iranian Oil Pipeline and Telecommunication Company, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The oil transfer center in Naein County (Iran's Isfahan Province) has created storage space for 120 million liters of gasoline," he said.

"There have been efforts to use the capacity of empty spaces and turn them into reservoirs for storing gasoline, since the gasoline consumption is dropping," said Ahmadipour.

"The gasoline consumption has reduced considerably and the crude oil reservoirs were unloaded, so there would be more capacity to store gasoline," he added.

"The crude oil reservoirs in Moghanak center (Tehran Province) have been unloaded, to free capacity for storing some 40 million liters of gasoline," Ahmadipour said.

He said that 3 reservoirs in Naein oil transfer center with storage capacity of 120 million liters will store gasoline produced from the Persian Gulf Star Refinery and more space would be available for some 40 million liter more by May 20.

"The process of preparing more reservoirs in Naein center will start in next two weeks to solve the storage problem for Persian Gulf Star Refinery," he added.

"It seems the situation will improve in summer due to possible increase of travels. There is no problem with storing oil and gas products in the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020)," he added.

"The oil and gas transfer operation continues as normal despite the coronavirus spread," he said.
