Iran reveals production volumes of hydroelectric power stations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11

The production of hydroelectric power stations in Iran increased by 9 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 19, 2020), compared to the 12th month of last Iranian year (from February 20 through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to the report, in the first month, Iran's hydroelectric power plants generated a total of 2,095 gigawatt-hours of electricity.

“In the 12th month of last year, the production of hydroelectric power stations was 1,925 gigawatt-hours,” the report said

According to the ministry, electricity production decreased by 57 percent compared to the same month last year. Thus, 4,825 gigawatt-hours of electricity were produced in the same month last year.

There are currently 55 hydroelectric power stations in Iran. Some 17 stations are under construction, research is underway on the construction of 217 stations.
