By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

The average volume of production at Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli block of oil fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea has dropped by more than 288,000 barrels per day from 2010 to 2019, Trend analysis shows.

BP report shows that in 2010 ACG produced on average 823,100 barrels per day (b/d) (300.4 million barrels or 40.6 million tonnes) from the Chirag, Central Azeri, West Azeri, East Azeri and Deep Water Gunashli platforms.

In 2014, ACG marked a major milestone by starting production from the Chirag Oil Project (COP). First Oil from the West Chirag platform was achieved on 28 January from one of the pre-drilled wells.

Total ACG production in 2014 was on average 638,000 barrels per day (b/d) (233 million barrels or 31.5 million tonnes in total) from the Chirag (61,900 b/d), Central Azeri (156,500 b/d), West Azeri (149,300 b/d), East Azeri (74,200 b/d), Deepwater Gunashli (145,900 b/d) and West Chirag (50,200 b/d) platforms.

In 2015, total ACG production for the full year was on average 634,000 barrels per day (b/d) (over 231 million barrels or 31.3 million tonnes in total) from the Chirag (48,000 b/d), Central Azeri (154,000 b/d), West Azeri (110,300 b/d), East Azeri (71,000 b/d), Deepwater Gunashli (141,400 b/d) and West Chirag (109,400 b/d) platforms.

In 2016, total ACG production for the full year was on average 630,000 barrels per day (b/d) (over 230 million barrels or over 31.1 million tonnes in total) from the Chirag (54,000 b/d), Central Azeri (144,000 b/d), West Azeri (114,000 b/d), East Azeri (72,000 b/d), Deepwater Gunashli (126,000 b/d) and West Chirag (120,000 b/d) platforms.

In 2017, ACG continued to safely and reliably deliver stable production. Total ACG production for the year was on average 588,000 barrels per day (b/d) (about 215 million barrels or 29 million tonnes in total) from the Chirag (51,000 b/d), Central Azeri (137,000 b/d), West Azeri (124,000 b/d), East Azeri (82,000 b/d), Deepwater Gunashli (117,000 b/d) and West Chirag (77,000 b/d) platforms.

During 2018, total ACG production for the full year was on average 584,000 barrels per day (b/d) (about 213 million barrels or 29 million tonnes in total) from the Chirag (46,000 b/d), Central Azeri (154,000 b/d), West Azeri (126,000 b/d), East Azeri (97,000 b/d), Deepwater Gunashli (105,000 b/d) and West Chirag (57,000 b/d) platforms.

During 2019, total ACG production for the full year was on average about 535,000 barrels per day (b/d) (more than 195 million barrels or 26 million tonnes in total) from the Chirag (41,000 b/d), Central Azeri (134,000 b/d), West Azeri (121,000 b/d), East Azeri (89,000 b/d), Deepwater Gunashli (96,000 b/d) and West Chirag (54,000 b/d) platforms.

In accordance with Azerbaijan’s obligations to reduce oil output under OPEC+ deal, daily production on the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli fields is expected to be reduced by 76,000 barrels in May and June. During the second stage of agreement, the operator of the fields - Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) - will be able to increase production by 27,000 barrels per day, adding 26,000 barrels per day in the next year. Thus, in 2021, the level of AIOC production is forecasted at 487,000 barrels per day.
